Gilbertson, Erwin (1924 - 1990)
 

Erwin Gilbertson, 65, Granton, died Saturday, April 26, 1990, at 10:25 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, 1990, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. Rev. Herbert Biermann officiated. Burial was in Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Serving as pallbearers were William Lowe, Rick Beilke, Victor Gray, John Hammond, Joseph Kirk and Bob Spry.


Erwin Gilbertson was born May 28, 1924, in Black River Falls to Irwin and Gertrude (Ziebell) Gilbertson. He received his early education in Granton and was a graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1943. He returned to Granton and operated the Gilbertson Funeral Home with his mother. He married Dorothy J. Koenig on Oct. 17, 1955 at Marshfield. He took over the business in 1965 and operated it until his retirements in 1989. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Southern Clark County Sportsman's Club, past member of Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association and Granton Village Board, and chart member of the Granton Rotary Club.


Surviving him are his wife, two sons, James and Thomas, both of Granton one daughters, Mrs. Denis (Ann) Gabel, Marshfield his mother, Gertrude Gilbertson, Granton two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Jane) Ashbeck, Greenwood Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Marge, Granton one brother, Clarence, Rockford, Ill. and one grandson, Eric Gabel.


Preceding him in death was his father.


Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton was in charge of the arrangements.
