Pederson, Vivian E. (1895 - 1990)


Vivian Pederson, 94, Colonial Living Center, Colby, died Jan. 23, 1990, at 8:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Spencer United Methodist Church, on Friday, Jan. 26, 1990, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, on Thursday, after 4 p.m.


Vivian E. (Hargrove) Pederson was born Sept. 24, 1895, at Milton, Iowa, to William and Effa (nee Pickens) Hargrove. She received her education in Iowa schools. She attended Southern Iowa Normal school and Iowa Wesleyan College, specializing in music. She married Hans Jacob Pederson on July 28, 1918, at Hingham, Mo. She taught school in Iowa and Montana and taught music for 50 years and piano for over 20 years. She and her husband farmed south of Spencer for 34 years. She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church and a charter member of the United Methodist Women.


Survivors include Mrs. Milton (Iris) Lenz, Abbotsford one son, Robert Pederson, Athens two sister, Lela Robinson, Billings, Mo. Veneta Robertson, Cantril, Iowa 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her husband, March 9, 1961 one son, William one brother and one sister.


Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, handled the arrangements.
