Dill, Gottlieb J. (1913 - 1991)


Gottlieb J. Mike Dill, 77, Neillsville, died Tuesday, April 2, 1991, at Tomah VA Medical Center, Tomah. Funeral services were held Friday, April 5, 1991, at 1:30 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwood. Rev. John Tschudy officiated.


Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Greenwood American Legion Post 238. Graveside military rites at the Greenwood Cemetery were accorded by the Greenwood American Legion 238.


Gottlieb J. Dill was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Greenwood, to Julius and Lydia (nee Kuester) Dill. He received his education in Greenwood. After his education, he moved to North Dakota where he worked until he entered the service on Feb. 5, 1942. He then served in the Army in the Pacific. He obtained the rank of Cpl. And was discharged on Jan. 7, 1946. He then worked in Milwaukee as a security guard for many years until his retirement. After his retirement, he moved to Neillsville, where he lived the rest of his life. He passed away following a brief illness. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post 238.


Survivors include three sisters, Alberta Thomas, Las Vegas, Nev. Anita Abel, Greenwood and Beulah Matkovich, Willard two brothers, Gilbert Dill, Rock Dam and Harvey Dill, Greenwood and several nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
