Armitage, Dale (1913 - 1991)


Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Neillsville, for Dale K. Armitage, 77, of Neillsville. He died June 20, 1991 at 6:10 a.m. at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.


Rev. Thomas LaChapelle officiated at the service and burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Haugen-Richmond American Legion 73 at the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Dale, Scott, Justin, Dan and Ben Armitage, and Randy Van Kampen. Carl Glaze and Iris Musil provided music for the church service.


Dale Armitage was born Sept. 21, 1913, in Christie, Wis. to Bruce and Eleanor (Schummel) Armitage. He was educated in Neillsville and attended the Univ. of Wisconsin at Madison for one year. After school, he returned to this area and worked for Tripe A. After serving in the armed forces, he returned to Christie and farmed for five years. He then joined the Neillsville Bank and worked there for more than 20 years, retiring in 1973. He also worked for FHA for several years.


On Jan. 25, 1941, he and Bethel J. Asplin were married in Neillsville. She survives. Other survivors are three sons, Robert of Stillwater, Minn. Thomas of St. Paul, Minn. and Neil of Neillsville one sister, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Ratsch, Neillsville and seven grandchildren.
Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville provided funeral arrangements.
