Celesnik, Peter (1913 - 2001)


Peter Celesnik, 88, Eau Claire, formerly of Cadott, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire. A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cadott. The Rev. Kurt Apfelbeck officiated. Entombment was in Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls.


Peter Celesnik was born on June 20, 1913, in Willard, to Gregor and Flemina (nee Zankon) Celesnik. He married Esther Mech on July 15, 1936., at St. John's Church, Marshfield. On May 1, 1938, they bought the Edsedell Cheese Factory near Cadott. They owned and operated the factory for 41 years, retiring in 1979. The moved to Cadott and lived there until 1995, when he moved to Chippewa Falls. He enjoyed making cheese, hunting and the outdoors.


Survivors include four children, George Celesnik, Boyd, Elaine Olsen, Chippewa Falls, Mary Ann Albertson, Eau Claire, and Peter D. (Pam) Celesnik, Chippewa Falls nine grandchildren four great0grandchildren one sister, Jennie Langfeldt, Greenwood two brothers-in-law, Vernon Pastell, Waukegan, Ill., and Kenneth Horn, Willard and one sister-in-law, Alvena Celesnik.


Preceding him in death were his wife of 58 years, Esther a daughter, Dorothy Herrick his parents three brothers, Frank, John and Tony four sisters, Mary Suda, Ann Pastell, Amelia Musich and Frances Horn and a son-in-law, Gerry Olsen.
The Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, assisted the family with arrangements.
