Schade, Marguerite (1920 - 2001)


Marguerite Marge Schade, 81, Abbotsford, Clark County, died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield.


Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Paul C. Hunsicker officiated. Burial was in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. David Schade, Shawn drew, Aaron Sperduto, Andrew Ferraro, Butch Hargraves and Arlan Hamm served as pallbearers.


Marguerite Elizabeth Sterling was born on July 19, 1920, in the town of Holton, Marathon County, to Nedry and Elizabeth (nee Brown) Sterling. She received her early education at the Wright School in the town of Holton. She married Ernest F. Schade on Feb. 20, 1939. He died on April 4, 1993. They owned and operated Marge's Flowers , established in 1951. Their shop was originally located on the present site of the Abbotsford Post Office. In 1968, Marge's Flowers moved to its current location on Highway 13. During this time, they also owned and operated flowers shops in Owen and Thorp. She was a member of F.T.D. (Florist Transworld Delivery) since 1956 and the Wisconsin, Upper Michigan Florist Association. During her 50 years in the florist business, she received numerous awards for excellence in floral design. She was a lifetime member of the Priscilla Guild and Christ Lutheran Church. She was an avid Avon bottle collector and, with her husband, enjoyed model O gauge railroading and building and operating their own railroad layouts. She enjoyed traveling and for many years, sponsored Marge's Flowers bowling team.


Survivors include her children, Wayne (Diane) Schade, Kalamazoo, Mich., Patricia (Dennis) Bowen, Wausau, and Elaine (Ron) Gosse, Abbotsford six grandchildren, Pamela (Jeff) McBride, David Schade, Jeff Bowen, Jody (Aaron) Sperduto, Dawn (Shawn) Drew, and Dana Gosse and fianc Andrew Ferraro one great-grandchild, Sophia rose Sperduto two sisters, Nila (Corkey) Sossaman, Colby, and Evelyn (Chuck) Elstrom, Lake forest, Ill.


Preceding her in death were her parents her husband, Ernest Schade, a sister, Lucille and a brother, Lester.


Memorials may be designated to your personal charity in her name.


Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, assisted the family with arrangements.
