Lesar, Mary (1909 - 2002)


Mary Lesar, 92, Cedarburg, formerly of Willard, Clark County, died on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at the LaSata Health Care Center, Cedarburg. Visitation will be for one hour preceding an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Jan. 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.


Mary Govek was born on Dec. 6, 1909, in Sheboygan, to Frank and Appolonia Govek. She moved to Willard with her family in 1913. She married Joseph Barney Lesar in 1933, and they farmed in the Willard area for the majority of their married lives, before moving to Hartford in 1969. Following her husband's death in 1971, she spent several years in West Bend and Tucson, Ariz. In 1992, she moved to Cedarburg, where she continued to enjoy her hobbies of oil painting and creative writing.


Survivors include three children, Mary Jo (Ronald) Denk, Cedarburg, Mark (Lin) Lesar, Port Washington, and Nick (Janet) Lesar, Palmyra 11 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren one sister, Anne (Alex) Mallmann, Milwaukee two brothers, Frank (Jean) Govek, Willard, and Tony Govek, Sheboygan four sisters-in-law, Agnes Lesar, Willard, Mary Lesar, Marshfield, Rose Govek, San Jose, Calif., and Ellen Miklavich, Ely, Minn. and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Preceding her in death were her husband her parents two brothers, Joseph Govek and Louis Govek one sister, Appolonia Yeray and one grandson.


Memorials may be directed to the LaSata Health Care Center, Cedarburg.
