Portage Nina Drew, 83, died April 19, 1995, at her home in Portage.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pflanz-Manteys-Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Roger Clapp officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Union Cemetery in the Town of Symco, Waupaca County.


Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Nina Drew was born on Sept. 20, 1911, in Christie, Clark County, the daughter of Ellsworth and Grace (Morse) West. She was married on June 23, 1927, in Greenwood, to Glen Drew, who preceded her in death in June 1967.


Nina lived most of her life and was greatly involved in the Greenwood community. She relocated to Portage in 1987.
She was a member of the Portage United Methodist Church, the Women's Civic League, Wauona Trail Women's Club, Portage Country Club, Senior Citizens Club, and various other card clubs. She had been a past member of Eastern Star.


Survivors include three children, Gladys (Arthur) Raynor, of Sumter, S.C., Ronald (Ruth) Drew of West Allis, and Danny (Sue) Drew of Pardeeville 14 grandchildren, James Ackermann of Gaston, S.C., Dr. Richard (Hilary) Ackermann of Macon, Ga., Lori Drew and Michael Drew, both of West Allis, Donald (Cindy) Drew of Hales Corners, Tech. Sgt. Gary (Debra) Drew of Aviano Air Force Base, Italy, Debra (Randall) Schuler of Muskego, Dawn (Donald) Finch of South Milwaukee, Dusty (Allan) Zajda of Portage, Tami Drew of Wisconsin Rapids, Teri Weiland of Arcadia, Lisa (Cory) Kurz of Marshfield, Arthur Turnquist of Rhinelander and Christina Turnquist of Greenwood two sisters, Blanche (Walter) Beyer of Neillsville and Mildred MacArthur of Buffalo, N.Y. a son-in-law, James Turnquist of Greenwood 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many close friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents her husband her daughter, Carol A. Turnquist, in Oct. 1985 and two sisters, Vivian Bartelt and Irene Santas.
