Haas, Alice (1898 - 1981)


Mrs. Alfred (Alice) Haas, 83, of 17045 - 15th N.W., Seattle, Wash., died Friday evening, Oct. 23, 1981, at Christa Home, where she resided for about a year.


Services and burial were on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Seattle.


Alice Bertz, daughter of Joseph and Mary Bertz, , was born on June 14, 1898, in Dodge County, Wis.


The family moved to a farm south of Loyal, Clark County, in the early 1900's.


Alice received her education in the Loyal Parochial and public schools.


She was married on June 14, 1923, to Alfred Haas in Loyal. They lived on a farm north of Loyal, now owned by Duane Stutte.


Mrs. Haas was the organist at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and an active charter member of the Loyal Women's Study Club.


Surviving are four daughters, Patricia McPherson, Seattle, Mrs. Harry (Priscilla) Knoblauch, St. Paul, inn., Mrs. Robert (Pamela) Dolan, Bothell, Wash., and Mrs. Kim (Penelope) Kochiya, San Carlos, Cal. one son, Allan of Seattle, Wash. 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Gwendolyn) Strathman of Colby and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Eggersted of Beverly Hills, Fla. two brothers, Pat Bertz of Loyal and Leo Bertz of Pembine, Wis.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 1970 her parents five brothers and two sisters.
