Sladich, Ignatius (1920 - 1981)


Ignatius C. Sladich, 61, of Route 2, Greenwood, Town of Eaton, Clark County, died of an apparent heart attack while walking on a town road Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 30, 1981.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Officiating was Rev. Michael Mertens. Interment was in the parish cemetery, with Charles Herrick, James Susa, John Wildish, Jake Barr, Ken Marvin and Cyril Rakovec serving as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home handled arrangements.

An 8 p.m. Prayer Service and an 8:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary were conducted on Friday evening, Jan. 1.

Ignatius Sladich was born on July 24, 1920, at Greenwood to Joseph and Johanna (nee Vogas) Sladich. He received his education at St. Mary's school.

He and Anne Gosar were married at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, on June 22, 1946. He farmed on the home farm all his life.

He was a member of St. Mary's catholic Church Holy Name Society Knights of Columbus and KSKJ Lodge 136.

Surviving him are his wife, Anne nine children, Mrs. William (Donna) Hurt of Shreveport, La., Mary Sladich of Neillsville, Edward of Sheboygan, Michael, at home, William of Greenwood, Mrs. Duane (Jeanne) Strey of Granton, Jerome, at home, Mrs. Chester (Rita) Rybski, Jr. of Loyal and Anne M. Sladich of Marshfield 7 grandchildren one sister, Mrs. Anton (Anna) Blatnik of Fayette City, Pa. three brothers, Philip of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Rudy of Greenwood and Joseph, address unknown.

Preceding him in death were his parents, nine brothers and one sister.
