Bentzler, Jerome P. (14 JUL 1926 - 24 JAN 2002)


Jerome P. "Jerry "Bentzler, 75, Sun Prairie, died on Thursday, Jan.24, 2002, at his home.


He was born on July 14,1926,in Loyal, to George and Leona (nee Schweiger) Bentzler. He served in the U.S. Army in Word War II, where he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Sun Prairie. He worked for several years as a produce manager at Red Owl and IGA food stores. He retired in 1984.


Survivors include his first wife, Wanda West seven children, Doug (Carole) Bentzler, Deerfield, Steve (Margo) Bentzler, Menominee Falls, Mark (Brenda) Bentzler, Viroqua, Paulette (Mike) Smith, Deerfield, Kathy (Bill) Moriarity, Madison, Dawn (Mike) Dollack, Madison, and Sue Bentzler, Reedsburg one daughter-in-law, Patricia Bentzler, Sun Prairie seven brothers, LaVerne "Bud " Bentzler, Grafton, Harry "Garland "(Lorraine) Bentzler, Marshfield, Donald (Georgiane) Bentzler, Marshfield, George "Jud " (Audrey) Bentzler, Crivitz, Eddie (Donna) Bentzler, Rochester, N.H., Raymond (Darlene) Bentzler, Hartford ,and Kenny (Holly) Bentzler, New London five sisters, Virginia Grutzik, Neillsville, Mary (Myron) Burkhardt, Henderson, Nev., Leona (Irban)Aumann, Loyal, Darlene (Dick) Lasch, South Bend, Ind., Kathleen (Ronnie)Froeba, Loyal, and Janet Freuhbrodt, Marshfield three sisters-in-law, Joan Sarac, Madison, Shirley Fehrman, Sun Prairie, and Mary Fleury, Sun Prairie and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his wife, Donna his parents and two sons, Jerry and Scott.
