Kronberger, Leo (20 JUL 1985 - 15 JAN 1985)

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 1985 at York Center Church, Town of York for Leo Kronberger, 89, of Veterans Home, King, formerly of Route 1, Neillsville, Town of York, Clark County. He died Tuesday evening, Jan. 15, at Appleton Medical Center.

The Rev. C. Arlene Denzer officiated. Burial was in the York Center Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion. Grandsons were pallbearers.

He was born July 20, 1895 in the Town of York, to Leonard and Barbara (nee Kronmueller) Kronberger, and received his education in Lincoln School there. On Feb. 14, 1923 in the Town of York, he married Lulu Benedict. She died Aug. 19, 1976.

Following their marriage they farmed in the Spokeville area, operating a dairy farm and also making maple syrup. In 1926 they moved to a farm in the Town of Loyal. Three years later they moved to his parental farm in the Town of York and in 1933 purchased another farm on which they continued to reside after retiring in 1958. He was a resident of the Veterans Home since August 1984.

In addition to farming, he was a blacksmith, repairman, builder and cheesemaker. He served for 28 months with the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I in France, England and Germany. When he returned he joined the American Legion Post at Loyal and was still a member.

Survivors include three sons, Ivan of Marshfield, Wayne of Neillsville and Jerry of Wis. Rapids three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Prior of Loyal, Mrs. George (Betty) Pabich of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Norbert (Jean) Lavey of Nekoosa a brother, Frank of Loyal two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Morse of Minneapolis and Mrs. Clara Kalkofen of Baton Rouge, La. 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and three grandchildren.
