Harder, Elsie F. (31 MAR 1901 - 30 OCT 1985)


Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 1985 at the United Church of Christ for Mrs. Henry (Elsie F.) Harder, 84, Route 1, Greenwood, Clark County, who died at 8:24 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1985 at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. The Rev. Mark Voll, pastor, officiated and burial was in the town of Weston Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

The vocalist was Lori Anding, accompanied by Deon Spangler.

She was born March 31, 1901, in Reinach, Switzerland, to Fritz S. and Elsie (nee Milz) Hediger, and received her education there. She worked for a sister in Geneva, Switzerland before coming to this country and making her home in the Neillsville area. She worked at the Winnebago Indian School there, then later worked in Milwaukee and in California for a short time.

She returned to Neillsville and was married April 26, 1924, at Neillsville, to Henry Harder and they farmed in the town of Weston for many years. She also operated the Christie store from 1941 to 1946. They retired from farming in 1957 bur remained in the Christie area. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Weston Homemakers Club.

Survivors include five sons, Henry, Manitowoc Bennie, South Beloit, Ill. Rene Neillsville Hans, Greenwood, and Alan Harder, Kenosha 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her husband died May 20, 1984, and she was also predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
