Chapman Olive (1857 - 12 MAY 1886)

Died, in this city (Neillsville, Clark County), May 12, 1886, of consumption, Miss Olive Chapman, aged 9 months.

Olive is dead was the report which greeted us yesterday morning as we were on our way to the office. Just one year ago she had brought flowers and with sisterly kindness had helped smooth the pathway to the land beyond the river, of our youngest boy whose morning son had darkened just as he was entering manhood's estate, and now, in the hands which were so ready to aid the departing are folded in the long sleep of death, which friends, kind and true are laying her to rest beneath the daisies. Of a quiet, lady-like demeanor, she was warmly esteemed by all who knew her and made many friends who did not leave her until her form was embraced in the protecting arms of mother Earth. Her remains were enclosed in a neat casket and taken to Unity to be place by the side of her father, Mr. M. W. Reddan and her family have kindly looked after the sufferer's wants ever since she was taken sick, and aided by many other warm friends have made her last days as pleasant as possible. In the great summing up of life's duties, to the Almighty Judge of the human race, those kindly acts will be credited to their account, and to such an extent that they will ever balance all charges.
