Hubbard, Charles L. (28 JAN 1850 - 12 FEB 1892)

Died, Charles L. Hubbard, of Hayward, Feb. 12, 1892. He was born in Tioga Co., Pa., Jan. 28, 1850. The remains were brought to Neillsville, Clark County by the 9 o'clock train Tuesday forenoon, and taken directly to the Methodist Church, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. H. McKenzie. The orders K. of P. and the A.O.U.W., both of which the deceased was a member, were in attendance, and the A.O.U.W. burial service was read at the grave.

Mr. Hubbard came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1862, and they settled in Neillsville. They occupied the old Central or Hubbard House, and naturally became widely known. The deceased grew up here and engaged in various pursuits. He was a familiar figure to the old residents. About five years ago he removed to Hayward, which has since been his home. There in a short time he attained prominence and influence, accumulating considerable property, and at the time of his death filled the office of Country Treasurer. Of a genial, kindly nature, he won many friends, and calculated to live a straight forward, honest life.

There survive him an aged widowed mother, a wife and son, one sister in Superior and one in Altoona, a brother in Hayward and one in Neillsville.

County Clerk, John Ericson, Sheriff H. B. Shue, Benjamin Kerth, C. J. Smith, W. T. Buck and Geo. A. Packard, all K. of P.'s, of Hayward, accompanied the remains to this place, and acted as pallbearers.

R. F. Hubbard, a brother and wife, Ed Pierce and John McIntyre came down from Hayward to attend the funeral.
