Schmidt, Joseph J. (11 JUL 1918 - 17 APR 2002)

 

Joseph J. Schmidt, 83, formerly of Neillsville, died April 17, 2002, at the Marshfield Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home.

He was born July 11, 1918, in the town of York to John and Christina (nee Hauser) Schmidt. He married Josephine E. Wenner on Nov. 8, 1941, in Neillsville. He farmed in the town of York and semi-retired in 1977. He also was a school bus driver for the Neillsville Public School System.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Schmidt his children, Yvonne (Alvin) Lezotte of Merrill, Richard (Beverly) Schmidt of Neillsville, Mary (Gordy) Smith of Stevens Point, Arlene (Gilbert) Layton of Wisconsin Rapids, Carolyn (Jim) Foote of Manitowoc, Ralph (Karline) Schmidt of Neillsville and Lorie (Tim) Thoma of Neillsville 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He is further survived by his brothers, Robert (Winnie) Schmidt of Milton, George (Jane) Schmidt of Janesville, and Verland (Delores) Schmidt of Neillsville and sisters, Sally (Clarence) Becker of Neillsville and Florence (Eddy) Reuth of Loyal.
