Krultz, Mike Jr. (6 DEC 1912 - 14 MAY 2002)

NEILLSVILLE - Mike Krultz Jr., age 89, died peacefully, Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his residence in Neillsville.

Funeral services for Mike will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Mike's son, Mike Krultz, will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist.

Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Casketbearers are his eight grandsons, Donald Zukowski, David M. Zukowski, Daniel P. Zukowski, Jason M. Krultz, Kevin M. Krultz, Ray Pszeniczny Jr., David Pszeniczny and Ed Vater.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the funeral home.

Mike was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Mulberry, Kansas, to Mike and Antonia (Prosence) Krultz, he moved with his family as a young child to Clark County, town of Hendren, Willard.

Mike received his education in the Willard area and later received his teaching certificate at the college of Eau Claire. For the next 10 years he taught grades 1 through 8 in the McKinley School in Clark County and also was a teacher/principal at the Willard State Graded School. He was a captain in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and received many military medals culminating with General McArthur presenting him with the Silver Star. After his honorable discharge he was Clark County Clerk for many years and Neillsville Postmaster for approximately 18 years. During his lifetime he was actively involved as the secretary for the Listeman Foundation, Post Commander of both the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post 73 in Neillsville and the Wilson-Heintz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2241 in Neillsville, Commander of the 808 Army Reserve Tank Battalion, retiring with the rank of Major, was a qualified member of the elite 40 et 8, belonged to NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and ROA (Reserve Officers Association).

Mike was active in the development of the Mead Lake area in Clark County, was on the board of directors of the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and camping, as well as his total love for his grandchildren.

Mike Krultz is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose (nee Malnar) Krultz his children, Darlene (Donald) Zukowski of Owen, Mike (Diane) Krultz of Medford and Robert Krultz of Neillsville his sister, Frieda Klancher of Willard as well as 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

He will always be remembered by his family and friends.
