Eckles, James (MAY 1822 - 17 DEC 1896)

James Eckles died of cancer, Thursday afternoon, Dec. 17, 1896, at the age of 74 years and 7 months.

Mr. Eckles was the father of Mrs. Prof. Morrison, with whom he has made his home since Prof. Morrison and family moved to this city (Neillsville, Clark County) two years ago.

He was born in Ohio, came to Plover, Wis., forty years ago, where he resided up to the time of coming to this city.

Mr. Eckles was a quiet and very pleasant old gentleman, and well liked by those who had formed an acquaintance with him since his short residence here. He leaves two daughters to mourn the loss of a dear and loving father.

A short funeral service was held at the house by Revs. Foster and Hill, and the remains taken to Plover, where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows Order, and the remains laid to rest in his old home.
