Riedel, Elinore, M. (1 OCT 1913 - 16 JUN 2002)


Elinore M. Riedel, 88, formerly of 1340 28th St. N., Wisconsin Rapids, died early Sunday morning, June 16, 2002, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, where she had resided since June 1, 2001.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Mark Drengler and William Loock will officiate. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids.

Elinore was born on Oct. 1, 1913, in the town of Fremont, Clark County, to Louis and Marie "Mary" (Kegler) Nickel. She united in marriage to Elmer Riedel on Aug. 11, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. He died on July 3, 1982.

Elinore graduated from Granton High School in 1932. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the town of Lynn and moved to Marshfield in 1952. She was employed at Roddis Lumber Co. (which later became Weyerhaeuser) from 1953 to 1974 when she retired. They moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 1974.

Elinore was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, Golden Age, the Envelope Counting Committee and Lutheran Laymen's League. When she lived in Marshfield, she had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield and its Evening Guild, Women's Study Club, the Envelope Counting Committee and the Lutheran Laymen's League.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon M. Riedel, of Wisconsin Rapids one daughter-in-law, Sharon L. (the late Robert) Riedel, of Wisconsin Rapids three grandchildren, Jan (Charles) Miller, Tammy Riedel and Michael Riedel, all of Wisconsin Rapids four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Chloe, Alaina and Charles III, all of Wisconsin Rapids and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son (Robert), one granddaughter (Mary Ellen), two brothers (Daniel and Raymond) and two sisters (Adelma Kuechenmeister and Elizabeth, who died in infancy).

Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
