Chili Community Club
The Chili Community Club was organized in 1939 with a membership of 40 ladies. There are three honorary members, Mrs. Gertrude Gilderneek, Emma Reisner and Annie Montag. Mrs. Montag is a charter member and still attends the meetings. Though the membership is smaller than in past years, they are no less active in promoting good will by their labors of love in ministering to the sick and shut-ins by visiting them in hospitals and convalescent homes. They also create handmade gifts that they present to many patients.

Homemakers Clubs
The ladies of Fremont and the village of Chili are interested in homemaking duties and so have helped each other by organizing home- maker groups and working together to promote more efficient methods in our households. The Fremont Homemakers group is the oldest in the township, having organized in 1916, West Fremont since 1923, Golden Rod since 1938, Forestside since 1943, and the Chili Homemakers group since 1947.

One day the train came into this town and Mrs. Hogenson, who was a passenger, got off the train with a friend and said, "My it-s Chili.'* This is the way I heard Chili got its name. (by Mrs. Burdett MeNaul)

Old Fremont Hall is sold at auction
Material Salvaged From Landmark Will be Used For House.
West Fremont--The old Fremont town hall was sold at auction at Chili on Saturday afternoon to Walter Schlinsog, Granton, for $200. Schlinsog pans to raze the building and use the material in the construction of a house.
Miss Lucille Happe, who teaches school west of Granton, spent the week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Happe
Rowene Happe, Marion Cole, Robert Lee, Laurence Sanger, and Arlene and Ethelyn Lindow, who are attending high school in various towns near here, spent the week-end at the homes of their respective parents.
Alvina Foemmel and Carl Worchel, students at the Neillsville teachers training school, spend the week-end with their respective parents here.
