Meissner's
Mystery Bible (View)
I'm unsure
who actually owned the Bible. We got this from Shirlee's
grandmother's house (Bertha Grobe Meissner in Chili). On our last
visit to her home prior to her going to the nursing home,
Bertha was born in Chili and lived her entire life there. During her
older years, she cared for people in her home. This included
brothers, sisters, and neighbors. This Bible was in a box from her
house. The only clue is that there is one photograph in the Bible.
In the photo is Bertha's sister Lena Grobe Bealer. (Lena had no
children and lived her last years with sister Bertha. All her pics,
etc., were in the home). Lena may have come into possession of the
Bible. Another option is Shirlee's mother would occasionally go to
estate sales, flea markets, and antique stores. She occasionally
came home with items like this. All of this to say, we're not sure
how it came into our possession!
