Granton Class of 1956 holds reunion

On Saturday September 9th, 2006, the Granton High School Class of 1956 celebrated their 50th class reunion at Fannies Supper Club near Neillsville.  William Wagner of Camano Island, WA was the Master of Ceremonies.  Committee members were Velda Greeler, Wayne Gower, DeWayne Huebner, Gerald Sternitzky and Arnold Wesenberg.  A moment of silence was observed for the five deceased members:  Robert Schumacher, Ronald Gluck, Roger Lee, Dorothy (Marek) Cook and Richard Miller.

There were 34 in attendance, including 19 classmates.

Those attending from out of state were: Tom and Lois (Lewis) O’Donnell, Carlsbad, Calif.; William Wagner, Camano Island, Wash.; Jerry Drescher, Tacoma, Wash.; Ed and Mary (Howard) Zieroth, Waconia, Minn.

From Wisconsin: Jeff and Betty (Sternitzky) Baxter, Columbus; Ivan and Jeanette (Pusheck) Gruetzmacher, New London; DeWayne Huebner, Wonewoc; Elmer and Nancy Martens, Hewitt; Ronald Nelson, Medford; Larry and Connie Dix of Chili; Erland and Velda (Levanduske) Greeler of Neillsville.

Attending from Granton were: Arnold and Carolyn Wesenberg; Fred and Laurie Winkler; John and Ellen Paun.  From Marshfield were: Jerome and Jeanette (Canfield) Kurth; Wayne and John Gower; Roderick and Doris Smith; Allen and Judy Sternitzky; Loren and Cheryl Virnig.

Each classmate was given a 50 year Commemorative Cup and information booklet.

Those not in attendance were: Raymond Bolander, Fla.; Beatrice (Downer) Sandbery, Minn.; Audrey (Henninger) Klein, Texas; Mary (Mueller) Cuevas, Marshfield; Robert Scheel, NC; Gerald Sternitzky, Junction City; Velda (Sternitzky) Galloway, NC; Mike Zahradka, NY; Pat (Carter) Holt, Spooner; David Bender, Arpin and Edythe (Pigott) Fox, Fond du Lac.
