--------- Bogaard, William & Wilhelmina

William Bogaard, who was 92 years old this year, started the first bakery in Abbotsford in 1926 in the old building north of the present Abby Appliance Center.

In 1926, he built the store that now houses the appliance center. In later years, he operated a used furniture store in the building that is now the Abbotsford Variety store.

Following this, he ran a tavern that was later sold to Lee Holiday and then to Ray Thompson.

Bogaard spends the summers in Abbotsford which his son, Robert, who resides in the town of Holton and works as a rural carrier for the Dorchester Post Office, and spends the winters with a daughter, Mary, a retired nurse who lives in Florida.

His wife, Wilhelmina, is deceased. Other children are Alex of Portland, Ore., and Clement of Geneva, Ill.
