Silver Crest School was located in the Town of Pine Valley at the corner of West King Rd. & Sidney Ave., Neillsville, WI. In the photo above, an outside entry to the basement has been added on the left side and there are many more trees surrounding it than when it was a schoolhouse. Memories
I do not know what year the first school was built, but understand it was eventually destroyed by a tornado. Then the next frame building was built. The last couple years that Silver Crest was open, my Dad was on the school board. My mother thinks Silver Crest closed about 1961 and then the kids went to the newer Pine View School in the town of Levis (I think it is in Levis) along Highway 95.
Later on, the old schoolhouse was moved (before 1932), down the hill to the east, but to the south side of King Rd. as my Mom and siblings and parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Kopp, lived in it after it was converted into a home. So, along this time frame is when the new school building was built with a basement. If anyone has more history on this school, please contact me!
