CHRISTMAS OBSERVANCE

The only public Christmas demonstration which took place in the village this year occurred at the Scandinavian Lutheran Church on Sunday evening.

Besides the regular Congregation and Sunday School children, there were present many spectators, in fact the church was crowded to its fullest capacity, emergency seats were place in every aisle, yet many were compelled to stand.

The program which was appropriate to the occasion was for the most part rendered in the Scandinavian language and those who were fortunate enough to understand it, speak in terms of highest praise of the excellent manner in which it was rendered.

A beautifully trimmed Christmas tree occupied a conspicuous place near the altar around the base of which were stacked sacks of candies, nuts, apples and popcorn which was generously dealt out to the army of youngsters present.

Several numbers on the program were rendered in English and for the commendable manner in which the little ones handled their parts they deserve much praise.

At the close of the exercises which were concluded by a few remarks befitting the occasion by the Rev. C.A. Lund of Prentice, a “Christmas offering” was taken up for the benefit of the Sunday School.
