Ephraim was the first 1 CONC chairman of Thorp Twp. He was it's first Postmaster when it was known as 1 CONC North Fork. In politics he was a Democrat, and very active. He was the 1 CONC Vice Grand I.O.O.F. Ephraim entered 160 acres of land, 1872, on sections 1 CONC 30 to 29, Withee Township, which now constitutes a part of the village of 1 CONC Thorp. In 1880 he purchased another 151 acres of government land. He 1 CONC built the first house in this place, which was a round-log cabin, 16 x 24 1 CONC feet, all in one room. This bulding also served as a dry-goods and 1 CONC grocery store, so Ephraim was therefore the first merchant of Thorp. "How 1 CONC much this community owes him it is impossible to estimate, though it 1 CONC would be a grateful task to trace his influence in his various characters 1 CONC of husband and father, of neighbor and friend, to perpetuate his name and 1 CONC emulate his virtues". Ephraim donated the land for the Thorp Cemetary, 1 CONC and there you will find the final resting place of many of this family. 0 @I04@ INDI 1 NAME Cynthia E. /BOARDMAN/ 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE 1841 2 PLAC New York State 2 SOUR @S1548@ 1 CHAN 2 DATE 12 SEP 2002 1 FAMC @F1@ 0 @I05@ INDI 1 NAME James Seneca /BOARDMAN/ 2 SOUR @S1547@ 1 SEX M 1 BIRT 2 DATE 1848 2 PLAC Pennsylvania 2 SOUR @S1540@ 2 SOUR @S1548@ 2 SOUR @S1549@ 1 RESI 2 DATE 1870 2 PLAC Cascade Twp., Olmsted Co., Minnesota 2 SOUR @S1549@ 1 RESI 2 DATE 1872 2 PLAC Thorp, Clark Co., Wisconsin 1 OCCU 2 PLAC Farmer 2 SOUR @S1549@ 1 CHAN 2 DATE 16 MAR 2003 1 FAMC @F1@ 1 NOTE @NI05@ 0 @NI05@ NOTE 1 CONC James served during the Civil War with the 2nd Minnesota Infantry 1 CONC Regiment.
