“Beyond Books: Community ArtShare”

T.B. Scott Library’s “Beyond Books: Community ArtShare" program is made possible by a $10,000 grant from the Mead Witter Foundation, Inc.

The program enables the library to showcase local talents and interests.  The grant has made it possible for the library to provide a place for local artists and collectors to display their creations and hobbies. The grant has also made it possible for the library to purchase secure cases, easels, and other items needed for the display area.

Displays featuring one or more artists or collectors are featured each month on an ongoing basis.

Artists, artisans and collectors who are interested in sharing their works with the community should contact Stacy Stevens, Library Director, at 536-7191 or stevens@wvls.lib.wi.us  .  Interested exhibitors should either provide photos of a representative sampling of their items or bring samples of their works to the library so that photos may be taken. Exhibitors will sign a waiver before their items are displayed.  A planning committee is responsible for final selection of items that will be displayed, and for compiling a calendar of upcoming events. Artists and collectors from Lincoln County are given priority.

We encourage a wide variety of original artistry, such as painting, drawing, ceramics, metals, fiber art, photography, needlework, woodworking and carving. Collections may include almost anything that would be of interest to the general public: antiques, seasonal items, instruments, sports memorabilia, costumes, quilts, toys, etc. Our intent is to appeal to a broad audience.

Special events will be planned to correlate with the exhibits as appropriate, such as demonstrations, informal conversations with artists/collectors, inter-generational programs, and musical performances.
